Glenthorne National Park-Ityamaiitpinna Yarta proclamation commemorated

Glenthorne’s status as a national parks is finally set in stone – quite literally.

An event was held in late October 2021 to unveil the commemorative plaque signifying Glenthorne National Park-Ityamaiitpinna Yarta’s official proclamation.

The park was proclaimed on 28 May 2020 at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. With the restrictions in place at that time, holding an event to commemorate the day was impossible.

Better late than never though – on 29 October Minister for Environment and Water David Speirs gathered together with the Friends of Glenthorne, Glenthorne Partnership Group members and staff from National Parks and Wildlife Service to unveil the park and properly celebrate this important milestone in our park’s creation.
